Marvel Preview Review for December Pt 2 of 3

Still going...

THUNDERSTRIKE #2 (of 5)
Written by Tom Defalco
Pencils & Cover by Ron Frenz
Hot For Teacher! Determined to avoid the fate of the last Thunderstrike, the mace’s owner considers his options (ebay, anyone?!?) until he receives a visit from a beautiful Valkyrie who has been sent to teach him the proper way to use an Asgardian super-weapon-- knowledge that he field-tests when a mysterious collector sends a high tech strike-force to steal the mace. Featuring cameos by Steve Rogers and the Avengers. 32 PGS./ $3.99
Lee: Two issues and neither one has the supposed hero of the book on the cover. That doesn’t inspire greatness…
Greg: I wonder why they chose this cover instead of a picture of Thunderstrike? Hmmmm...

WOLVERINE: THE BEST THERE IS #1
Written by Charlie Huston
Penciled by Juan Jose Ryp Cover by Bryan Hitch
Sketch, Classic Artist, Modern Artist and Poster Variant covers too!
“Contagion, Part One: Impulsion & Whim,” Part 1 of 6When Wolverine faces a problem of the villainous kind there's a good chance that he'll use his Adamantium claws to whip up a lethal solution to it. What happens, though, when he faces an opponent who becomes a much bigger problem if he's killed? Enter: Contagion, a bold new addition to Wolverine’s rogue’s gallery. But first, Logan must contend with Contagion’s defenders, the aptly named crew known as the Unkillables. 32 PGS./ $3.99
Lee: I’m not saying that I am burnt out on Wolverine but I haven’t read a Wolverine comic in at least five years. That said, this book is going to bring me back. With a writer like Huston I know I am getting a good story. BUT, I cannot pass up a chance to see Ryp drawing main stream characters. This is going to be excellent.
Greg: This will probably be very good. But 3 Wolverine books is two too many. Find a creative team for Wolverine and stick with it Marvel.

DEADPOOL MAX #3
Written by Dave Lapham
Pencils & Cover by Kyle Baker
“An Alternate History Of Love In America” The history of the 20th Century is the history of great leaps toward the fulfillment of a promise – a promise made by these United States to be a land where and all are created equal. For Baron Helmut Emmerich Von Zemo, though, the 20th Century was an unmitigated disaster that must be combated by extreme steps. And what should happen when Deadpool is tasked to take down out this hood-wearing warrior of hate? Feel the freeing power of the gun and the sword! 32 PGS./ $3.99
Lee: I don’t care about Deadpool but this cover actually makes me want to read this story. I don't think the first issue has hit the stands yet but each cover has gotten better than the last and suddenly I have an urge to read this.
Greg: Blah blah blah, let's answer the burning question we all need to know: Will Deadpool MAX join Deadpool Corps or X-Force?

CHAOS WAR #4
CHAOS WAR: ARES #1
CHAOS WAR: GOD SQUAD #1
CHAOS WAR: THOR #2
CHAOS WAR: DEAD AVENGERS #2
CHAOS WAR: X-MEN#1

INCREDIBLE HULKS #618… A Chaos War Tie-In!
INCREDIBLE HULKS #619… A Chaos War Tie-In!
Lee: I thought the point behind the Heroic Age was so we wouldn’t have to suffer to massive, cross book events! That being said, I guess 8 books isn’t big enough to qualify as a big event anymore.
Greg:I think the threshold is like 20 now. Anyway, just do what I do, don't read the tie-ins unless they look good.
